In the culinary arts, the term "mother sauce" refers to any one of five basic sauces, Bechamel, Veloute, Espagnole, Hollandaise, and Tomato, which are the starting points for making various secondary sauces or "small sauces." They're called mother sauces because each one is like the head of its own unique family of sauces. Once you know how to make these 5 mother sauces, the possibilities are almost limitless. Chef Marianne and her staff will lead you through an interactive class where you will not only learn the mother sauces, but we'll show you how to turn one sauce into another sauce and fix "broken" sauces!
