It will provide great educational and networking opportunities.  Street parking or flat lot on Oakland and 26th Presentation: Building Security Ethos Without Handcuffing the Business Balancing business requirements with security initiatives is tough. Not only are you concerned with scale, latency, resiliency, availability AND delivery of new features, but you also have to pore through mostly generic, sometimes contradictory guidance and 'hair on fire' exclamations from security claiming that the end is nigh because there's an instance of cross site scripting on a help page. Is cross site scripting really that bad in this case? Are we losing focus on the business in pursuit of security perfection? In this collaborative session, we will discuss strategies to recenter our success metrics to mirror those of the business and balance the 'must-dos' in security versus the needs of our technology partners. Bio: Yolonda Smith is a Lead Infosec Analyst with Target Corporationʼs Business Information Security Office (BISO), aligned with the Digital portfolio. In this role, she provides expert security consultancy to developers, business leaders and key stakeholders to ensure that Target's web and mobile applications are designed, developed and deployed with minimal risk to Target or its guests. A security professional herself, she spent 8 years in the United States Air Force as a Cyberspace Operations Officer with duties and responsibilities varying from Mission Commander, (Advanced Network Operations) where her team planned and executed the first DoD Cyber Threat Hunting Missions to Flight Commander, (Cyber Defense Capabilities Development) where her team developed and fielded the first and only malware neutralization tool for the Predator Drone Weapon System. Additionally, she successfully completed multiple deployments in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom where her teams delivered secure, reliable communications capabilities to forward-deployed units on- demand. Yolonda holds a litany of degrees and certifications including a Bachelor of Science, Computer Science (University of Notre Dame, 2005), Master of Science, Information Technology, with a concentration in Information Assurance (University of Maryland, 2010) as well as GSEC (2008), GCIH (2011), and CISSP (2008) certifications Book Recommendations: Originals, Adam Grant Outliers, Malcom Gladwell  Sponsor: Navilogic and Sailpoint   If you register and are in attendance, you could win a copy of the book recommendation from our speaker. See more book recommendations on our website. FAQs Are non-members and guests welcome at meetings and events? Yes, we welcome individuals at large from the security community to join us for any of our events. We simply ask that, after experiencing personally the value of our community at two events, individuals consider joining ISSA for the additional benefits that membership provides. Why do we have to register to attend meetings and events? Besides assisting the board with planning logistics for our events, registering for meetings and events, then checking in when you attend, provides you with self-service documentation you can print out to support your CPE credits if you are audited. Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? No, printed tickets are not necessary, you will still be able to check in.  However, having a printed or electronic copy of your ticket does speed up the check in process. ***Information/image release.  By registering for this event, I agree
