Practical Tips to Effectively Hire and Retain Employees The success of your business depends on your employees. Layer that on top of our tight labor market and it can be difficult to find employees and be able to keep the good ones. Therefore, hiring and retaining good, productive employees is a top priority for business owners. In this session, we will provide practical (and free) tips and tools that you can use to hire and retain your best employees. The session is interactive with opportunities to get answers to specific questions. Participant will learn: To increase the effectiveness of your hiring process; To retain high performing employees; and To provide effective feedback to employees for both constructive feedback and recognition. ______________________________________________ Presented by: Erin Mies While not intending on a career in HR when I was in school, I soon found the balance between business success and employee advocacy a place where I could thrive and add value. My experience has involved coaching and consulting executives, leaders and managers in both manufacturing and corporate environments. I began my career with General Mills in manufacturing facilities, before moving into a role in Recruiting. In 2015, I joined Land O’Lakes to support the Purina Animal Nutrition Sales team. Kristen and I founded People Spark Consulting in 2018, working primarily with small- and mid-sized businesses to grow their businesses with practical HR strategies. In addition to my professional experience, I hold a BA in Economics and Music from Wittenberg University (Ohio), and a Master of Human Resources and Industrial Relations from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I am certified through the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) as a Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP). AND Kristen Ireland As a consultant, I focus on understanding the business and ensuring it achieves its goals by aligning the culture, leadership, people and processes with business strategies. I am a thoughtful, innovative and strategic problem solver who believes it is critical to listen before providing a solution. I have earned the reputation for being a compassionate change agent that can influence behaviors needed for organizations to be successful. I have more than 20 years’ experience in human resources, consulting and coaching executives, leaders and managers in both for profit and not for profit sectors. In addition to my work experience, I earned both my BA in Business Administration and MBA from the University of St. Thomas. I am a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI), and a certified Change Practitioner from PROSCI.
