Lunch & Learn - Lean: Practical Uses at All Stages of Business
Lean: Practical Uses at All Stages of Business Are you planning your start-up, needing to solve sticky problems, or planning for your next stage of growth? In this workshop, Ann Goebel, an award winning Lean trainer and practitioner, will share simple, yet effective ways you can begin using Lean concepts immediately for your organization no matter the size, type, product or service delivered. Lean is a world-class method of thinking that helps owners and their teams engage, evaluate, and assess how to best use resources to deliver the most value from the customers perspective. Large or small, every organization and person within creates points of opportunity or failure; however, we often don’t recognize these points. We actually design waste into the business by accident. When we do recognize these points, the path is not clear how to solve them. After a brief introduction to the origins of Lean, Ann will share examples of the benefits experienced by her own clients. Then she will coach you to start using the basic concepts of Lean drawing from either your own business concept or existing enterprise. As you complete this initial activity, we will also begin to form a three-point plan on how to take the next important action steps most fitting your particular business status. The session wrap-up will include tips for success and pitfalls to avoid as you consider expanding the use of Lean or other continuous improvement techniques. At the end of this session, participants will have learned and created: A “power model” sketch of their core business An analysis of 3 potential or current points of improvement A new way to think and stop future activities from draining resources _____________________________________________ Presented By: Ann Goebel, President at Grit Incorporated About Ann .. 2005 Shingo Prize Winner, SME/AME Lean Certification Exam Development Manufacturing Engineering Technologist, MS, Minnesota State Mankato (MSU-M) Certified TWI, (Training Within Industry), Job Instruction and Job Relations Certified PMP, Project Management Institute Certified ISO 9001: 2000, 2008, 2015 and AS9100 Lead Auditor Certified Lean, Society of Manufacturing Engineers 10 years faculty, Manufacturing and Automotive Engineering Technology Department, MSU-M 5 years Director of Strategic Business, Education, and Regional Partnerships Division, MSU-M 25+ years combined operations, sales, quality, engineering, and executive experience $7M+ awarded and/or delivered in applied training grants with entrusted partner match In 2014, Ann founded Grit to devote full attention to her passion for identifying and leading strategically selected applied improvement inititives.
