Can Do Woofaroo
Can Do Canines invites the public to take part virtually in the Can Do Woofaroo on Saturday, September 12, 2020, at 11 a.m. This fundraiser celebrates the amazing partnership between assistance dogs and the people who need them.
Participation can happen in a variety of ways. Individuals can take part in the dog costume contest by submitting a photo by August 16. Entries will be highlighted during the virtual event on September 12.
Having a caricature drawn with a pet is also a great way to celebrate the friendship. Orders placed with Twin Cities Caricatures at https://www.twincitiescaricatures.com/fundraisers by August 26 will be eligible to be drawn during the Can Do Woofaroo virtual event on September 12. Also, for every order placed between now and September 30, 25% of the cost of your caricature will be donated to Can Do Canines.
Other aspects of the virtual event on September 12 will include an assistance dog demonstration, a client presentation, a video showing our prison program teams joining in the fun, cute puppies, and all kinds of fun surprises. After the virtual presentation, participants will be encouraged to head out and walk their dog and take a photo of the experience. The Woofaroo website, www.candowoofaroo.org, will have information on how photos can be submitted.
Individuals can register on their own or as part of a team, and everyone is encouraged to collect pledges and donations toward this fundraiser. The proceeds make it possible for Can Do Canines to match assistance dogs with people with disabilities, free of charge. Event coordinator Melissa Herman says, “We are so appreciative of the participants who will raise funds for this life-changing mission. Our work in forming essential partnerships between these special dogs and deserving individuals is dependent on the generosity of others.”
