Don Quixote
with live orchestra
American Ballet Theatre, one of the world’s finest classical ballet companies, returns with this popular story ballet based on choreography by Marius Petipa and Alexander Gorsky, with staging by Kevin McKenzie and Susan Jones, and music by Ludwig Minkus. Never before staged in full at Northrop, this ballet in three acts is based on Miguel de Cervantes’ remarkable and humorous tale of romance and chivalry. Follow the misadventures of Don Quixote and his squire, Sancho Panza, as they aid the spirited maiden Kitri and her charming amour, Basil. From the bravura dancing of the fiery toreador Espada to the colorful caravan of gypsies, the stage explodes in this feast of choreographic fireworks.
