We invite you to participate in Allina Health's Suicide Prevention Conference. Minnesota has experienced one of the highest increases in suicide rates in our nation. It kills more people than automobile accidents. This conference is providing the training necessary to help save our patients' lives, within our own system and in collaboration with all of the other major Minnesotan healthcare organizations. We are training people in suicide screening, risk assessment, immediate intervention, and advanced treatment.     Learning Objectives • Better understand suicide risk and drivers.• Improve ability to screen for and intervene with patients at significant risk of suicide.• Learn intervention tools adopted for system wide implementation.• Understand and practice the Safety Planning Intervention, a stepwise guide for patients to learn how to manage suicidal thoughts.• Adopt caring contacts - reaching out to the patient expressing concern whether as part of a visit or discharge or as follow-up for the Safety Planning Intervention.• Understand Means Restriction - how to talk to patients to let go of the ways (aka "means") by which they want to harm themselves.• Train in using CAMS - Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality - a 4-12 session.
