Amy Thielen - Give A Girl A Knife Cooking Class

Thursday, June 21, 2018, 1:30 AM - 4:30 AM

We Minnesotans love when one of our own makes good, but we get downright (uncharacteristically) proud when someone makes good and comes back home. For our inaugural class "Cook the Books" we have chef and James Beard Award-winning author, Amy Thielen, who fits that description to a 'T'. With her husband Aaron, Amy moved from a one-room cabin in northern Minnesota to Brooklyn. After working for 10 years at some of the most prestigious eateries in New York, she returned to Minnesota to become the host/cook of Beard-nominated cooking show, Heartland Table, and to write New Midwestern Table and Give A Girl A Knife.

We're honored to have Amy join us in the Kitchen to celebrate the paperback release of Give A Girl A Knife on Wednesday evening, June 20. This hands-on cooking class will take about 3 hours, will include a champagne cocktail and some nibbles, a family-style meal with Amy, and a signed copy of Give A Girl A Knife.

Menu inspired by the memoir:
Curried Carrot Mussels with Cilantro and Dill
Thielen Family Pork Roast with Anchovy-Celery Heart Salsa Verde
Lemony Potato Gratin
Baby Greens with Birch Syrup and Toasted Hazelnuts
Intermezzo: Heavily Buttered Popcorn with a Red Wine Chaser
Lemon-Nemesis (Lemon Bar and Strawberry Sun Jam Ice Cream Sundaes with Meringue)

Cost: 115
